Interlock Repair in Hull

When we arrivedThe patio, between a fence and a shed, was covered in moss and weeds well settled in the joints. The pavers were in rather poor condition.

What stood outAlong the fence, rows of pavers had lifted and were rippling, and the base was exposed. The pavers were sinking toward the fence, probably because of soft ground and water collecting there. On old pavers, the edges are often the first to move, because water can wash away the bedding sand. You can never be 100% sure.

What we didWe hesitated to lift everything, then decided it was not necessary. On the first day, a full pressure wash. On the second, we lifted the affected rows, removed the weeds from the base, compacted and leveled it, then relaid the pavers (releveling). This job needed a lot of releveling, which shows the age of the pavers.

The sandThe polymeric sand had to wait: the weather would not allow it, so we paused after the washing and releveling. When the weather cooperated, we did a final cleaning, laid the sand, compacted twice with the plate compactor, then watered once everything was ready. About a month later, as always, we came back to apply the sealer. On site as a team of two, it took three days of work, plus one for the sealer.
